Community engagement is a critical part of any carbon reduction strategy. Having developed Bellingen Shire Council’s first Climate Emergency Framework and their Corporate Carbon Plan, Low Carbon Consulting was engaged to write a Community Engagement Plan for the development of a community wide carbon action plan, The plan mapped the stakeholders and processes necessary to ensure that the whole community had an opportunity to be involved in the development of the carbon action plan.
LCC used a community greenhouse gas profile, based on the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories.
We recommended stakeholder engagement activities, using a Covid-safe approach, that allowed for wide and equitable participation. We identified engagement methodologies, mapped stakeholders and developed timelines and budgets for the process.
